Science in Medicine Lecture March 8

Guy Palmer, professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology at Washington State University (WSU), will present the WWAMI Science in Medicine Lecture on Thursday, March 8. His lecture Antigenic Variation as a Driver for Pathogen Emergence and Diseases Outbreak, will be given from noon to 1 p.m. in Hogness Auditorium, Health Sciences Center.

His current research is focused in understanding antigenic variation of vector-borne pathogens at the in-host and population levels. He also directs vaccine development research against highly antigenically-variant pathogens.

Palmer serves as director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Immunology Training Program at WSU, chair of the graduate program in microbiology and pathology, and is on the steering boards for the NIH Biotechnology Training Board and the University Biotechnology Center.
