Richard Leakey to speak at Meany May 8 on ‘Climate Change and the Future of Life on Earth’

The Burke Museum will present a special slide presentation with Richard Leakey, world-renowned paleoanthropologist and environmental activist, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, at Meany Hall.

The presentation will begin with a visual introduction to the natural wonders of Africa by author, photographer, and safari leader David Anderson, chairman of Focus on Planet Earth. Leakey will follow with a talk addressing the timely topic of Climate Change and the Future of Life on Earth, a two-hour multi-media presentation on the greatest crisis facing our planet and man’s role in both causing and solving it.

Smithsonian Magazine recently recognized Leakey as one of the 35 innovators of our time. Both controversial and successful, Leakey continues to be an important influence on generations of conservationists and activists.

This event is sponsored by the Burke Museum and Focus on Planet Earth. In the coming months, the Burke Museum will offer exhibits, educational programs, and environmental forums designed to engage audiences in an ongoing discussion about climate change and global warming solutions.

Ticket prices are $40 for general admission, $35 for museum members, and $20 for students. Tickets may be purchased ay the Meany Hall box office beginning one hour before the event.
