Trumpeter takes the lead in Very Vizzutti on Jan. 31

The chances are good you’ve already heard Allen Vizzutti play the trumpet, somewhere. You’ll have another opportunity at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Meany Hall, where he will perform jazz, Latin and contemporary stylings in an evening of music called Very Vizzutti.


An active recording artist and composer, Vizzuti has performed in every state in the union and in 50 countries. And when he lived in California in the 1980s, he played on the soundtracks of more than 100 movies and television shows, including Back to the Future and Star Trek.


Vizzutti, a member of the School of Music faculty, also worked on recordings with such luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, “Doc” Severinsen, Chick Corea, Chuck Mangione, Woody Herman, as well as with the Tonight Show Band, the New Tokyo Philharmonic, the Budapest Radio Orchestra and metropolitan orchestras across the U.S.
