Volunteers needed

Volunteers needed for the measurement of physical activity with a novel, innovative tool.

We are looking for men and women who :


  • are 18-65 years of age
  • do not have heart disease or other disease that limit their ability to be active
  • do not have hip, knee, ankle, back or other bone or joint problems that limit their ability to be active
  • have a weight for height index (body mass index) that places them in a normal weight, overweight or obese category

This study requires:


  • 1 one hour-study visit to the General Clinical Research Center at the University of Washington Medical Center
  • a one-hour study visit to Paul Allen computer center
  • a one-hour study visit to either the General Clinical Research Center or to Paul Allen computer center
  • filling out questionnaires
  • height and weight measures
  • Performing moderate physical activity

Benefits to volunteers: Up to $50 upon completion of the study

ADAI grant deadline

The Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute invites applications from University of Washington researchers for its Small Grants Research Awards. Proposed research must be in alcohol or drug abuse-related fields. The maximum amount considered for funding is $20,000.

The next application deadline is 5 p.m., March 17. Questions concerning the application process or suitability of a potential project should be directed to the Institute at 206-543-0937.
