Harborview names employee, manager of the year
The Harborview Medical Center Employee and Manager of the Year for 2008 are Benito (Bennie) Sy and Kathy Schahrer. Johnese Spisso, Harborview interim executive director, announced the honors earlier this month.
Sy, a unit supply technician in Medical Stores, is the Employee of the Year. He is known for his can-do attitude and his ability to handle the constant demands and high volumes of multiple clinics.
Schahrer received the Manager of the Year award. As clinical practice manager for the Surgical, Medical Specialties and Chronic Fatigue Clinics, she is described as a mentor for nurses, a champion for patient- and family-centered care and a tenacious problem solver.
Both winners will be honored at the Service Awards Dinner Thursday, May 22, for exemplifying the Harborview CARES values of commitment, access, respect, excellence and service.
