Human subjects panel May 28

The Medical History & Ethics Department will present a panel discussion, Lost in Translation, on Institutional Review Board processes on Wednesday, May 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the UW Medical Center Plaza Café Conference Rooms A&B. Speakers will include experts from the Human Subjects Division — Sharon Elsayed, Laura Ferrara, Shannon Sewards and Zan Manning. Sponsored by the Department of Medical History and Ethics, and the UWMC Ethics Advisory Board.

Medical education forum June 2

The Medical Education Research & Scholarship Forum presents Opportunities for Collaboration, Faculty Development and Education Research and Scholarship: Meet the Department of Medical Education. The session will be led by faculty in the Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics Monday, June 2, noon to 1:15 p.m., South Campus Center, Room 350. Lunch is provided.

Learn about this School of Medicine department whose mission is to improve and promote education and scholarship in the medical school through research, evaluation, and faculty development. Integrative health applications due June 2

The UW’s Faculty Integrative Health Program is accepting applications for the coming school year.

The yearlong program allows 10 faculty members to study theoretical concepts, clinical practices, and evidence related to integrative therapies.

The program is a joint effort by the UW schools of medicine and nursing and Bastyr University.

Lung Day June 13


The UW Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, in association with the American Lung Association of Washington and Alaska, will present Lung Day 2008 on June 13.


The featured speaker is Dr. Lluis Blanch, director of the University Institute Fundació Parc Taulí at Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona.
