Global blindness is topic of medicine lecture Oct. 23

Dr. Tueng T. Shen will present “Window of Opportunity: Artificial Corneal Development for the Treatment of Global Blindness” at the next New Investigator Science in Medicine lecture, Thursday, Oct. 23, from noon to 1 p.m. in room T-625, Health Sciences Center. She will discuss the treatment and challenges of corneal blindness worldwide. 


Shen, a UW assistant professor of ophthalmology and director of the Refractive Surgery Center at UW Medical Center, is committed to delivering the best vision care by providing the most advanced treatment options and by developing technologies to restore vision for patients with challenging corneal conditions. She is also an adjunct faculty member in bioengineering. She received her doctorate in medical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed her medical degree and subsequent residency training in ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School.
