Olde-Time Picnic in the Arboretum
Seattle Parks & Recreation, the UW Botanic Gardens, and the Arboretum Foundation will host an old-fashioned picnic on Saturday, July 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as part of Washington Park Arboretum’s 75th Anniversary Event Series.
Families are invited to pack a picnic and come to the Crabapple Meadow, just a short walk from the Graham Visitors Center. At the meadow, visitors will enjoy an array of old-fashioned entertainments — including musical performances and field-day games.
A limited supply of free hot dogs and ice cream will be also available to supplement your picnic.
Members of the Evergreen Chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America will display vintage automobiles. In addition, kids will be treated to fun, educational tours of the Arboretum’s new Pacific Connections Garden.
“Olde-Time Picnic in the Arboretum” will evoke America in the 1930s and transport visitors back to the days when the Arboretum first opened to the public. Event staff will be dressed in period picnic garb, and visitors are invited to do the same.
The picnic is open to the general public. Admission and parking are free.
