Harborview staffer Bruce Taylor invites the public to celebrate with him the nomination of his book, Kafka’s Uncle and Other Strange Tales for the &Now Award for Innovative Writing, as well as the launch of his new Web site, www.brucebtaylor.com. Other artists will also be presenting their art: Roberta Gregory, Carl and Lida Sloan and musician Todd Christoffel. By day, G. Robin Smith is a truck driver for Property and Transport Services. But on his own time he holds forth as Benjamin Franklin, speaking about the ins and outs, inns and courts, back rooms, slavery-invested Colonial days of tea taxes, smuggling, snuggling and socializing that went on during his long and storied life (1706-1790). In this first-person interactive account, Smith, as Franklin, weaves tales from the life, times, thoughts and writings of this original American. The evening concludes with audience questions about his times, or theirs. The show is at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Highland Middle School, 15027 NE Bel-Red Road in Bellevue.
