Chiwoniso.

The daughter of famed mbira master Dumisani Maraire, who was a visiting artist at the UW in 1969-70, Chiwoniso Maraire also embraced the mbira (which she describes as something “like a large xylophone”) and has become an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter in her own right. Her music is soulful, haunting, and deeply personal, reflecting her African heritage and her passionate interest in human rights.
8 p.m., Meany Theater.
