Pianist Regina Yeh and violist Hillary Herndon team up for March 8 concert
School of Music alumna Regina Yeh will team with Hillary Herndon to present solo and duo works for viola and piano in a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in Brechemin Auditorium.
Yeh is director of piano studies at Pacific Lutheran University, and Herndon was principal violist of the Juilliard Symphony Orchestra. The program will feature Chopin’s Barcarolle, Brahms’ Sonata in F minor, Op. 120, No.1, and Marcelle Soulage’s Sonate Op. 43.
Yeh has delighted audiences with her performances throughout the United States and abroad, including France, China, the UK, Belgium, Slovak Republic and on tour in her native Taiwan. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her compelling performances. An active collaborative artist, Yeh has appeared at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, performed as a guest artist with the Adirondack Ensemble in New York, and was guest artist faculty at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival.
A devoted artist-teacher, Yeh teaches masterclasses at colleges and universities while maintaining a rigorous performing schedule. Having served on the UW piano faculty from 2001-2008, she has been recently named the chair of piano studies at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.
Violist Herndon has toured with orchestras throughout Europe and North America. She has served as principal violist of the New World, Colorado Springs, Eastman and Juilliard Symphony orchestras under the direction of today’s best conductors.
