Small Grants research awards open for applications

The Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute invites applications from University of Washington researchers for its Small Grants research awards. Proposed research must be in alcohol or drug abuse-related fields. The maximum amount considered for funding is $30,000 for faculty and research scientists. The funding limit for predoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows is $20,000.


The next application deadline is 5 p.m., Oct. 15. Questions concerning the application process or suitability of a potential project should be directed to the Institute at 206-543-0937. University of Washington: Determination of Non-Significance

Project Name: UW Tacoma — Phase 3B Library


Description of Proposal: The University of Washington proposes to construct a new, four-story library building. The project includes demolition of the existing annex to Tioga Building at 1901 South Jefferson Avenue. The site is currently used for vehicular parking and an existing office building. The new library building will be approximately 50,570 square feet in size. The Tioga Building, built in 1890, is considered a contributing structure to the Union Depot Warehouse District (this structure will remain). The Tioga Annex is a non-contributing structure. Demolition of the annex has been approved by the City of Tacoma Landmarks Commission.

The lead agency for this proposal has determined that it does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030 (2) (c). This decision was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with the lead agency. This information is available to the public on request.
