University of Washington named ‘Great College to Work For’
The University of Washington has been recognized as a “Great College to Work For” by the Chronicle of Higher Education in its 2015 survey. Now in its eighth year, the Chronicle’s 2015 Great Colleges to Work For® program recognizes small groups of colleges (based on enrollment size) for specific best practices and policies. The UW was specifically recognized for collaborative governance and compensation and benefits – making it one of 10 large universities honored in both categories.
“This is recognition that when UW administration, faculty, students and staff work together, we achieve the excellence that abounds in our classrooms, research laboratories, performance halls and hospitals,” said UW interim President Ana Mari Cauce. “As a community, we encourage innovation, collaboration and risk-taking to support the leadership and career development throughout our community, which in turn inspires the next generation of thinkers and doers to dream big and take action for a global impact. And our employee engagement programs nurture employees’ personal growth and foster a healthy, balanced community.”
Approximately 500 UW faculty and staff were randomly surveyed by the Chronicle and asked to evaluate the university on a variety of categories.
The UW is one of 86 colleges and universities honored across the United States in areas that include leadership, careers, compensation and workplace culture.
