Arts Roundup: Graduation Exhibitions, Gluck’s ‘Orphée’ …And Hilarity Ensues…
This week in the arts, the School of Music takes center stage with performances by the UW Gospel Choir and Modern Music Ensemble, and a production of Gluck’s Baroque opera, Orphée. The Dance Program presents its annual MFA Dance Concert, and the School of Drama opens its latest production at the Penthouse Theater. The School of Art + Art History + Design’s graduation exhibitions continue at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery.
MFA Dance Concert

The School of Music teams up with Pacific MusicWorks to present Gluck’s celebrated opera, Orphée, with Grammy-winning conductor and Senior Artist-in-Residence Stephen Stubbs. More info.
Gospel Choir

Phyllis Byrdwell leads the 100-voice UW Gospel Choir in songs of praise, jubilation, and other expressions of the Gospel tradition for its spring quarter concert. More info.
Modern Music Ensemble

The School of Music’s contemporary music ensemble performs works by Messiaen, Murail, Takemitsu and Lutoslawski in its final campus performance of the academic year. More info.

Plays from the School of Drama’s inaugural 1940-41 season are reimagined in an immersive, multi-media theater experience. During this performance, the audience is invited to walk freely through time and space as the historic Penthouse Theatre comes alive. More info.
