UW ranks No. 5 on Forbes’ Best Value Colleges 2018
The University of Washington this week ranked No. 5 on the Forbes list of Best Value Colleges 2018. The UW rose from 23rd place in the 2016 ranking.
A college education can be one of the most expensive costs in a person’s lifetime, the magazine said. That’s why editors rank the schools and universities that provide the best value for the dollar on tuition costs. The rankings are based on several factors including quality (based on the 2017 Forbes Top Colleges ranking), alumni earnings, net price, net debt, timely graduation, and number of Pell Grant recipients.
Public research universities make up the majority of the schools on the 300-institution list. UCLA, University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Irvine ranked first, second and fourth, respectively. Brigham Young University, which has tuition subsidized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ranked third, according to the magazine. Harvard, Stanford and Princeton follow the UW in sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively. University of California, San Diego ranked no. 9 and Amherst College ranked 10th.
