Arts Roundup: An Evening of Shakespeare, Design Show, and more
This week in the arts, attend a hilarious and surprising play, celebrate the start of summer with an evening of Shakespeare, visit the Burke for free at First Thursday, and go to a graduation design show.
Goldie, Max and Milk
May 22 – June 3 | Glen Hughes Penthouse Theater
Max, a single lesbian, just gave birth. She’s unemployed, with a house that’s falling apart, an ex on the loose, and no clue how to nurse her newborn. Can Goldie, an Orthodox Jewish lactation consultant, guide Max into motherhood? Or will conflicting family values get the better of them both? Playwright and UW Drama Senior Artist-in-Residence Karen Hartman makes her UW Drama debut with this hilarious, surprising, and deeply human play.
An Evening of Shakespeare
7:30 p.m., June 5 – 6 | Floyd and Delores Jones Playhouse
Faculty member Bridget Connors and UW Drama student actors celebrate the start of summer with an evening of Shakespearean scenes, monologues, and sonnets, all on the theme of love. Expect music, dancing, and merriment!
First Free Thursday at the Burke Museum
10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., June 7| Burke Museum
On the first Thursday of every month, admission to the Burke Museum is FREE and the museum is open until 8 pm.
Design Show
June 7 – 16 | Jacob Lawrence Gallery
The graduation show for students receiving Bachelor of Design degrees from the Division of Design.
