UW Spokane Center to move into historic SIERR Building
The University of Washington’s Spokane Center will soon serve the community and its constituents from new offices in Spokane’s historic Spokane Inland Empire Railroad (SIERR) Building, located in the heart of Spokane’s growing University District.
The UW Spokane Center will relocate May 1, 2021, to new offices at 850 E. Spokane Falls Blvd. from its office at 201 West Main, where it has been housed since 2015. The UW Center is available to UW staff, faculty and partners for small group meetings and events; however, it remains closed to the public for gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The UW Spokane Center is a space for people and ideas to connect in a meaningful way with something they have in common – the spirit of boundlessness and the pride in being a Husky,” said Catherine Brazil, director of Spokane and eastern Washington relations. “We’re excited to be based in a growing neighborhood of innovation and collaboration and we look forward to welcoming Huskies to visit us in our new location.”
The SIERR Building, a refurbished 1907 structure that’s been transformed into office space with historical elements and industrial design, is part of the health peninsula development underway by McKinstry Company at the eastern end of the University District. It is adjacent to the new medical and health education center currently under construction to house the UW-GU Health Partnership and their medical school and undergraduate human physiology programs.
