Rankings: UW among best in world for computer science and engineering
The University of Washington is among the best universities in the world for the studies of computer science and engineering, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2022.
The rankings, released today, show that the UW moved up five spots to No. 16 in computer science, making it third among U.S. public universities. The improvement is largely a result of better teaching and research scores, THE said. Some 891 institutions from around the world were rated on this list.
Engineering, meanwhile, placed No. 43, globally, moving up seven places from last year. Engineering includes general engineering; electrical and electronic engineering; mechanical and aerospace engineering; civil engineering; and chemical engineering. There were 1,188 universities ranked in this field.
The subject tables employ the same range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2022; however, the overall methodology is recalibrated for each subject, with the weightings changed to suit the individual fields.
