Allison Webel named interim dean of the School of Nursing
University of Washington Provost Mark Richards announced that Allison Webel has agreed to serve as interim executive dean of the School of Nursing, effective Aug. 1, until a new permanent dean is selected.
Webel will step into the position vacated by Azita Emami, who is leaving to become dean of the Yale School of Nursing.
Webel currently serves as the associate dean for research in the School of Nursing, and she holds an Aljoya Endowed Professorship in Aging. She is a globally recognized leader in clinical research focused on helping people with HIV live and age well, with an emphasis on non-pharmacological approaches to healthy aging. Webel has spoken and published widely in this area, with over 150 manuscripts on HIV and aging, behavioral science and global health. Her work has been funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, American Heart Association, Gilead Sciences and the National Institute on Aging.
