International participants sought for 50th reunion at UW

News and Information

The Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS) is trying to find individuals who may have participated in the program, either as a students or as host families, during the organization’s 50 years of existence.

FIUTS, an independent foundation and community volunteer organization, was established in 1948 to promote mutual understanding between the international community at the University of Washington and the people of Puget Sound. Its principal activity has been the Welcome Week Hosting Program, in which international UW undergraduate or graduate students live in the home of a Puget Sound resident for three to 10 days when they first arrive in the region. Over the life of FIUTS, it has helped to build bridges between thousands of international students and Puget Sound residents.

FIUTS is celebrating its 50th anniversary this October, with a series of events including a banquet. If you have had any involvement with FIUTS, please call 206-543-0735, or email: fiuts@u.washington.edu.
