2004-05 University of Washington Undergraduate Scholar award recipients

News and Information

Vice President for Student Affairs Ernest R. Morris has announced 209 recipients of 2004-05 University of Washington Undergraduate Scholar Awards.

The scholarship recipients, who will be freshmen at the University beginning autumn quarter, come from 105 high schools and 81 cities and towns in the state, and include 1 state resident who graduated from a high school located outside Washington State.

According to Morris, the scholarship winners were chosen from among all freshmen admitted to the UW for the 2004 autumn quarter. A variety of factors were considered in making the selections, including high school academic achievement, leadership potential and civic involvement.

“We could not be more pleased to acknowledge the accomplishments of these extraordinarily talented and hardworking young people,” Morris said. “We are delighted that they will be joining us at the University this fall.”

The scholarships consist of partial waivers of full-time tuition and mandatory fees, and are limited to residents of the state of Washington. Each award is worth $2,400¾$1,200 per year for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 academic years. Morris said 325 returning students are expected to receive awards as well.
