‘Come Together Washington’ October 15

WHAT: A celebration of the contributions of our community and University of Washington students faculty and staff in support of our society, our region and our world.


WHO: The event features 32 faculty-student showcases, remarks by UW President Mark Emmert, a keynote address from Bill Gates III, co-founder of Microsoft, and a live interactive video with UW faculty and students in Beijing, Rome and Yakima


WHEN: Oct. 15

Doors open 4:30 p.m. Formal program begins at 6 p.m. with a public reception following at 7:30 p.m. (Emmert will be available for brief interviews in the Green Room, room 146, following the event at about 7 p.m.)


WHERE: Bank of America Arena in Hec Edmundson Pavilion, UW campus in Seattle. Free parking is available in lot E-1, just east of Montlake Boulevard.


DETAILS: This is the public launch of Campaign UW: Creating Futures, which began in 2000 and will continue through July 2008. The UW aims to attract $2 billion in private support.


The faculty-student showcases include an actual size Mars lander, a virtual reality patient care display, computer film animation technology used in student projects, and much more.
