Iraqi-American artist gets good news

Sabah Al-Dhaher, the subject of a feature story in the May 1 edition of University Week, recently received good news.

The Iraq-born Al-Dhaher heard from his sister in Nasiriyah, who was able to report that each of his 10 siblings and his mother survived the war. It was a short conversation, not even a full minute in length, but it did a great deal to ease his fears.

“I’m very relieved,” the Seattle artist said. “I feel like a great weight has been lifted.”
