ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES 

Applicants wanted
The Institute for Ethnic Studies in the United States (IESUS) invites applications from University of Washington faculty members who are engaged in or are beginning projects on ethnic issues in the United States. The deadline for applications is April 15. ADAI Grants
The Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute invites applications from University faculty for its Small Grants Research Awards. Proposed research must be in alcohol or drug abuse-related fields. The maximum amount considered for funding is $20,000. The next application deadline is 5 p.m., March 15. Questions concerning the application process or suitability of a potential project should be directed to the Institute at 5206-43-0937. Residence hall banquet facilities available
Looking for a room to hold your next banquet or reception? Consider the residence halls on campus. The Department of Housing and Food Services’ Catering and Conference Services offers just the right locations for your next event. McMahon Pompeii (70 capacity) and Books (20 capacity); Haggett Banquet (300 capacity with 4 side rooms 50 capacity each); and McCarty ABC (50-190 capacity). UW Faculty Auxiliary interest groups
The UW Faculty Auxiliary has just added two new interest groups that are open to the UW community — faculty, staff, students and friends.

Hiking/skiiing group: new men’s/women’s hiking/skiing group has walked through Discovery and Seward Parks with more to come. Call Sheila Belcher (206-367-4989) or Bob Brown (206-524-4490) for more information.
