“Copyright Myths and Monsters: Authorship, Ownership, Open Source and Fair-Use Pitfalls” is the title for the next presentation in the series “Things Your Mother Never Taught You,” sponsored by the School of Medicine’s Office of Industry Relations.
The program, from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in room D-209 of the Health Sciences Center, is open to everyone.
Dr. Susan Wray, director of industry relations in the School of Medicine, and Dr. Charles Williams, director of Digital Ventures for UW TechTransfer, will be the speakers.
Topics to be covered include myths surrounding copyright, especially in an academic environment; what materials are copyrighted; copyright authors; fair use of copyrighted material, and the meaning of “open source.”
