UW Bothell tabs two new administrators

The UW Bothell has announced the appointment of two women to administrative positions.


Tana Hasart was named associate vice chancellor of academic affairs and director of student affairs.


A graduate of Seattle University with a doctorate in educational leadership, Hasart will be responsible for overseeing UWB’s advising and recruitment, admissions and registration, financial aid and student development. Hasart will also hold affiliate faculty appointments in education, interdisciplinary studies and at the graduate level, in policy studies. Hasart will have oversight of the student government and UWB’s student newspaper, The Commons.


Previously, Hasart was president of Clark College in Vancouver, vice president of student services at Clark College and director of registration and student aid at Pierce College in Fort Steilacoom.


JoLynn Edwards was named program director for UWB’s Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences Program (IAS). Edwards, who did both her undergraduate and graduate work at the UW, earned her doctorate in art history. She was one of the founding faculty members of the UW Bothell in 1990.


Edwards teaches in the Culture, Literature and the Arts and Global Studies undergraduate concentrations. She has also served as General Faculty Organization chair, Lecture and Concert Committee chair and interim program director for IAS.


The IAS program was the first degree program offered at UWB.
