Summer teaching workshop deadline March 31

The UW Teaching Academy’s Institute for Teaching Excellence is offering 16-20 UW faculty a chance to reflect with peers on their teaching methods and goals in a weeklong workshop June 11-17 at the Olympic National Resource Center, located on the Olympic Penninsula.

The “best-of-the-best” experience in instructional training will combine study and work in course development, along with practice in methods of presenting course content. All faculty members are eligible to apply, though priority will be given to senior faculty. Those participating will receive a $1,000 stipend in addition to all lodging and food expenses for the seven-day program. A team of five to 10 faculty known for their distinguished teaching will serve as program facilitators.

The deadline for application is Friday, March 31. To apply, faculty should make a brief proposal (no more than one typed page) describing aspects of their teaching that they’d like to improve, or how they would plan to retool a course. Applications should be submitted to the UW Teaching Academy, Institute for Teaching Excellence, 220 Mary Gates Hall, Box 352800.
