Two $5 concerts set this weekend

This weekend there is an opportunity to attend two $5 concerts at the UW School of Music.


On Friday, Dec. 1, five student composers at the school and one recent graduate will present a concert of their work. The composers and their works include: Donald Craig, Etude for Guitar and Computer Realized Sound; Brandon Pettit, audiostereogram; Richard Johnson, Keyboard Shortcuts (6 short pieces for piano); Jeremy Jolley, …constante, eblouie, elancee… for Bb clarinet, violin, and cello; Robert Blatt, Morphogenesis; and Joshua Parmenter, Palimpsest for electric guitar and live electronics.


On Saturday, Dec. 2, The UW Women’s Vocal Jazz and Vocal Jazz I ensembles, directed by Dave Cross, present a program selected from the following pieces:


Women’s Vocal Jazz: An Affair to Remember, Too Little, Too Soon, Too Late, Where Is the One, Softly, as I Leave You and Please Don’t Do It in Here.


Vocal Jazz I: St. Thomas, Moanin’ In Walked Bad, Why Did I Choose You, Take a Little Time to Smile, The Theme, and A Boy Was Born on Christmas.


Both concerts will be at at 7:30 p.m. in Brechemin Auditorium in the Music Building. Tickets are available at the door.
