Dawg Prints: A better way to print

To help defray the cost of student printing, some departments used to just put out a can and put a sign on it saying, “Leave your money here.” The honor system rarely paid for itself.

Campuswide, many students used to get their copies free from the Libraries and computing labs. But as printing demands increased, departments looked for ways to recoup costs, including asking students to supply their own paper or to leave change.

Isn’t there a better way? Well yes, there is, and it’s called the Dawg-Prints Program.

The Dawg-Prints Program was created in response to departments and libraries that were losing money consistently by providing free or minimal-cost printing services to students. Publications Services stepped in to provide a not-for-profit pay for print alternative, which used to be called Uniprint Pay for Print.

The service was rebranded Dawg-Prints and even given its own Web site designed to provide information and increase the ease of use for students. The program allows students to print from personal computers — including laptops — to any of more than 70 Dawg-Prints locations on campus using an interactive map.
