Original student works to be performed in 'Composers Workshop' March 4
Student composers in the UW School of Music will present original works in the Composers Workshop, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, in Brechemin Auditorium.
The program will include:
- Quidditas, a piece for flute, clarinet, oboe, horn, trumpet, trombone, and euphonium by Michelle McKenzie;
- Needle, Tracing, a series of explorations of the sonic qualities of various objects, by Abby Aresty;
- Ontological Accelerator, a musical interpretation of the processes that occur within the Large Hadron Collider: acceleration, collision, and exploration, for two tam tams, two flutes, two violins, two cellos and two pianos, by Jason Wells;
- 9-5, a tape piece by Perry Jones; and
- Boję się ciebie, ślepy wierszu (…), a song set to a poem by Rafał Wojaczek for voice (by Sarah Marroquin) and piano (by Yigit Kolat).
