Dawg Daze presenters wanted

Jen Drumm, The coordinator of Dawg Daze, the annual event welcoming new students to campus, is looking for faculty and staff who are interested in participating. Dawg Daze will be held from Thursday, Sept. 18 to Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Many things qualify for a program at Dawg Daze. According to Drumm, planners are looking for people who have a research passion they could talk about to excite new scholars, but they’re also interested in people with a skill, hobby or personal interest they could share. Students at last year’s event indicated the following things are of interest to them:

  • Learn more about the spectrum of programs offered here, especially lesser known majors, programs, opportunities, etc.
  • Meet other UW students who share similar interests
  • Be less intimidated by faculty (students want to connect but don’t know how)
  • Create avenues for a healthy balance to their academic pursuits – through involvement in the arts, sports skills classes, clubs, social events, etc.

Anyone is eligible to submit an event. All that’s required as the willingness to volunteer 30 minutes to an hour of your time.

To volunteer, go to www.uwdawgdaze.com and click on the “Faculty and Staff: Submit your Events!” button to access more information and to submit an event. Contact Drumm at jdrumm@u.washington.edu for specific questions and event suggestions and/or ideas. The submission deadline is Friday, June 20.
