Library Lecture Series: “Chronic Pain Is a Disease in its Own Right” will be the topic when Dr. Alex Cahana, UW professor of anesthesiology, speaks at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Microsoft Auditorium at the Seattle Central Library. An expert on the science of pain management, Cahana emphasizes that with proper treatment, people can live full, normal lives after experiencing chronic pain. The presentation is part of the medical lecture series jointly sponsored by UW Medicine and the Seattle Public Library, and is free and open to everyone.


Dr. Ben Anderson, founder and chair of the Breast Health Global Initiative, will speak next week as part of the Washington Global Health Alliance Discovery Series. Anderson, professor of surgery at the UW and a member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, will speak on “Breast Health Global Initiative: Implementing Cancer-Care Guidelines in Limited-Resource Settings” at 5:30 p.m., in the Foege Building auditorium on campus.
