Voice workshop set for May 11

Voicing in Fitz(Maurice) and Starts is the title of a participatory workshop to be offered by Gin Hammond from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, in Eagleson Hall, 1417 NE 42nd St.

Fitzmaurice Voicework explores the dynamics between body, breath, voice, the imagination, language, and presence. It encourages vibrant voices that communicate intention and feeling without excess effort. This work has been helpful to actors as well as individuals in the corporate and professional worlds as aids to effective speaking and to clinicians in the rehabilitation of injured or dysfunctional voices.

Gin Hammond received her MFA from the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University/Moscow Art Theatre School. A native of San Diego, she has worked steadily across the country at many theaters.

The presentation is after the business meeting of the northwest chapter of the Voice Foundation, but it is open to the public. Participants should wear clothes that they can move in and bring a yoga mat or towel.
