Jay Inslee to serve as commencement speaker for UW Bothell

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee will be the speaker for UW Bothell’s 18th annual commencement ceremony.


UWB will hold its commencement from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Bank of America Arena, Hec Edmundson Pavilion. More than 700 undergraduate and graduate students are expected to participate.


Raised on the shores of Puget Sound, Inslee comes from a long line of Washingtonians. His passion is protecting the state’s natural beauty for generations to come. He’s worked at the federal level — as representative for the 4th Congressional District from 1992 to 1994 and the 1st Congressional District since 1999 — to protect the environment of Washington state and address the problem of global warming. He is also an active and strong supporter of higher education.


Inslee holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the UW and earned his law degree from Willamette University.
