UW opens its job search system free to recent grads, alumni

The UW is offering free access to HuskyJobs, its online job search system, this summer for recent UW graduates as well as alumni.

Registration is now open for access to the site. Access will begin June 22 and end Sept. 25.

The site provides information on thousands of positions and employers in the region and elsewhere. Although historically the site has been focused on entry-level positions for recent UW graduates, it is now expanding to include more positions for experienced alumni as well.

“We recognize that this is an extremely difficult job market,” says Susan Terry, director of the UW Career Center, “so we’re offering this as a free service to new 2009 graduates in addition to all other UW alumni as a way to show our ongoing commitment to UW students in helping them find meaningful and successful careers.”

To qualify for free access, an individual must graduate from the UW by June 22nd. Non-UW community members can access the site for a fee.

Recent UW graduates and alumni also have access to special seminars and workshops produced by the UW Career Center and designed to help them in their job search. The “Dependable Strengths Seminar” is a 2-day intensive workshop to help individuals identify their most marketable skills. Click here for more information and registration.

The UW Career Center is also offering an all-day “Career Launch” workshop that focuses on cover letters, resumes, conducting a successful job search and interviewing. The seminar costs $30 with a $5 discount for UW Alumni Association members. Click here for more information.
