Plane flight yields new views of campus for staffer with a camera

Tara Brown loves to take pictures. Her job in Organization Development and Training is to coordinate events and run the recognition program for the UW Medical Center, but she can be seen most days carrying her digital SLR camera with her, in hopes of catching a unique view of the campus. She is a frequent contributor to Community Photos.

So when Brown’s colleague Kathleen Torchia, a health care recruiter in UW Medicine, offered her the opportunity to take a ride in Torchia’s husband’s private plane, she said yes immediately. Once airborne, Brown pulled out her trusty camera and began taking photos of everything she saw — including these lovely views of the campus, particularly Husky Stadium. Unless you count snapshots taken from the window of a commercial flight, it’s her first attempt at aerial photography.

“I really love photography and hope to do more with it in the future,” Brown said. She is currently a student in UW Extension’s certificate program in photography.
