Arts Roundup: Film, University Symphony – and ‘The Beggar’s Opera’
There’s much to see and do this week in the arts. Join the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture this Saturday, April 19, for Native Arts and Artists Day or head to the Jones Playhouse for the debut of “The Beggar’s Opera” presented by the UW School of Drama.

The UW School of Music and DXARTS co-sponsor this concert featuring an evening of improvised experimental music in 3D, with Richard Karpen (piano), Stuart Dempster (trombone), Cuong Vu (trumpet), Ted Poor (drums), Greg Sinibaldi (saxophone), Luke Bergman (bass), Juan Pampin and Joseph Anderson (3D electronics). For this concert the audience will be seated on the stage of Meany Theater surrounded by the musicians, and a 3D audio system will be deployed to create an immersive experience. More info.

Native Arts & Artists Day

Watch demonstrations and examine the incredible artwork of local Native American artists, who are experts in mediums such as weaving, basketry, and beadwork. Take part in hands-on art activities for kids and adults. Also attend talks about supporting indigenous artists and various basket and weaving techniques of Northwest Native Peoples. More info.
