Bassist Travis Gore to perform Nov. 21
Travis Gore, the newest member of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra bass section, performs a solo recital of works by Henze, Rossini, Schumann, Hindemith, and Massenet at a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in Brechemin Auditorium.
Gore began his study of the contrabass in Atlanta under the tutelage of Michael Kurth. He received a Bachelors of Music from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a Masters of Music from Rice University. His primary teachers were Albert Laszlo and Tim Pitts.
He has attended the Aspen Music Festival as a two-time fellowship winner as well as the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.
Besides having held positions in the New World, Seattle, and San Diego Symphonies, Gore has performed with numerous other major orchestras in the United States such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony and has served on the faculty of the San Diego State University.
In addition to the concert, Gore will lead a master class with students of Barry Lieberman at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, also in Brechemin Auditorium. Tickets to the concert are $10 cash or check at the door. The master class is free and open to the public.
