Arts Roundup: The Music of Harry Partch, Force Continuum – and Arty Party
This week in the arts, UW Drama opens their production of Force Continuum, and the School of Music presents two visiting artists: mezzo-soprano Michaela Martens and chamber ensemble Decoda. You can also hear the groundbreaking music of Harry Partch or attend the Henry Art Gallery’s annual Arty Party.
Directions for a Cloud-Crowd

In this 90-minute performance, artists Anne Walsh, Jim Melchert and 3D4M Assistant Professor Michael Swaine explore the giving and taking of instructions, and the actions and interactions that result. Presented in collaboration with the School of Art + Art History + Design. More info.

Arty Party

The Henry’s annual Arty Party is a full afternoon of family-friendly fun, including performances, art-making, music and gallery exploration. This year’s party is inspired by artists who bend the rules of time, space and history. More info.
Music of Today: The Music of Harry Partch

The School of Music and DXARTS team up for Music of Today, a series celebrating groundbreaking new work and modern classics. Hear music by Harry Partch performed on the composer’s own famous collection of handmade instruments, currently housed in the School of Music. More info.
“Force Continuum”

UW Drama stages “Force Continuum,” an explosive socio-political drama about three generations of African American police officers torn apart by the very organization to which they have dedicated their loyalty and working lives. More info.
Decoda

Decoda, Carnegie Hall’s affiliate ensemble, will conclude its week-long residency at UW with a chamber music performance of music by Adés, Fauré, Kurtag and Schumann. More info.
