Arts Roundup: Calidore String Quartet, I Dig Dinos – and a Halloween Organ Concert
Celebrate Halloween with a concert of spooky organ classics in Kane Hall or a dinosaur dress-up party at the Burke Museum. Catch performances from jazz pianist Marc Seales, the Calidore String Quartet, or fado singer Mariza. The Jacob Lawrence Gallery celebrates the centennial anniversary of its namesake’s birth with a new exhibition.
Calidore String Quartet

The award-winning Calidore String Quartet performs a program of chamber music by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Schumann at Meany Hall. This event replaces the previously-announced Heath Quartet performance, which was cancelled due to illness. More info.
Marc Seales: Piano Jazz

Noted Northwest jazz pianist and UW professor Marc Seales presents a program of music for solo piano in the first performance of this quarterly piano series. More info.
Halloween Organ Concert

Students of Professor Carole Terry perform spooky organ classics—including Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor—on the UW’s Littlefield Organ. More info.
I Dig Dinos
11 a.m., October 30 | Burke Museum
Budding paleontologists are invited to the Burke Museum for a day of fossilized fun. Children are encouraged to get in the Halloween spirit by making dinosaur masks and Stegosaurus hats and by uncovering fossils in the Dino Dig Pit. Costumes encouraged. More info.

One of world’s most acclaimed and decorated artists in her field, vocalist Mariza returns to Meany Hall with her bewitching renditions of fado — the haunting torch songs of old Portugal. More info.

The School of Art + Art History + Design celebrates the 100th anniversary of Jacob Lawrence’s birth with a series of participatory exhibitions and programs.
