Enrollment strong for the University of Washington’s fall 2020 entering class
The incoming new class across all three campuses, including first-year students and transfer students, totals 11,775, of which 8,501 (72.2%) are Washington residents.
A total of 3,169 community college transfer students enrolled at the UW across all three campuses — 1,518 in Seattle, 801 in Bothell and 850 in Tacoma. Of these, 83.6% are Washington residents.
Of the 8,520 new undergraduates admitted to the Seattle campus, 1,412 identify with at least one underrepresented group. Overall the undergraduate application pool for the Seattle campus decreased slightly this year by 4%, resulting in 43,778 total applications, with an admissions rate of 56%. Seattle’s admission rate for Washington residents was 63%.
Total enrollment across all three campuses rose from 59,381 to 60,418 (48,734 in Seattle, 6,326 at UW Bothell and 5,380 at UW Tacoma — 22 students are enrolled at more than one UW campus), continuing a progressive trend spanning the past 13 years.
Of the 60,418 enrolled students across all three campuses, 43,069 are undergraduate and 17,349 are pursuing graduate or professional degrees. The number of international students enrolled across all three campuses is 8,451 (14 %) — 7,770 in Seattle; 448 at UW Bothell; and 233 at UW Tacoma.
