Nara Almeida has a doctorate in civil engineering, an MBA in civil construction, a specialization in project management, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture and urban planning. In Brazil, Almeida worked as a professional architect for 8 years, designing and coordinating residential, commercial and institutional projects. Almeida considers herself passionate about the construction industry, its materials and management, and always advocates for sustainable solutions, which influenced her decision to also become a LEED Green Associate.
Almeida’s research interests are mainly associated with sustainable materials and technologies applied to the construction industry. Those materials include pervious concrete pavements, waste byproducts applied to construction, low impact development strategies, among others.
