The number of international students is virtually unchanged, going from 53 last year to 52. Freshmen choosing not to identify with a particular ethnic group rose from 441 to 651 (up 48 percent).

Students of color total 9,303 and represent 26.2 percent of the overall enrollment (down from 26.9 percent), 30.1 percent of undergraduate enrollments (the same as 1998), and 16.1 percent of graduate and professional enrollments (down from 16.6 percent).

Over half of the students are women, numbering 18,316 or 51.5 percent.
