Task force on Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender Issues releases draft report
University of Washington President’s Task Force on Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender (GBLT) Issues has released a draft version of its report, in order to obtain community reactions before finalizing the document. The report examines a variety of apsects of GBLT life at the UW.
The Task Force, in its report, calls upon the University to create an affirming and safe environment for GBLT students, faculty and staff. Specifically, it recommends:
? Establishing a standing Presidential Advisory Committee on GBLT issues
? Funding a staffed GBLT resource center
? Expanding domestic partner benefits
? Specifically including GBLT concerns within the concept of “diversity” in campus discourse
? Sponsoring an on-going dialogue on GBLT discrimination
? Developing GBLT academic studies.
The Task Force will host four public forums to receive comments and reactions to the draft report:

? UW Seattle Campus Thursday, February 1, 11:30-1:30, HUB Room 200A
