Green Dot offers students “bystander training,” where they learn about identifying potentially risky situations, discuss their personal barriers to intervening and practice the skills needed for responding, as opposed to doing nothing.

Combined Fund Drive extended through Dec. 9

The extension will help the campaign approach its goal this year of $2 million in pledges from UW faculty and staff. As of Thanksgiving, the campaign had raised $1,824,483.

Travel reimbursement adds direct deposit

The final phase of the electronic travel reimbursement project, begun two years ago, is about to implemented, saving the university over a hundred thousand dollars a year as well as much manual labor. Effective Nov. 1, direct deposit of travel reimbursements will become the default payment method for individuals who have enrolled in payroll direct deposit.

Health care, insurance information available at benefits fairs

The UW‘s annual benefits fairs will be held Nov. 1–3. The fairs provide an opportunity for UW employees to get information about their health care and insurance options directly from the benefits providers.


Labors of love at Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center — a CFD choice

Staffer Melissa Maxwell volunteered for this agency because of her love of horses. “So you could say that I signed up in order to be with horses. What I hadnt expected was to fall in love with the kids, too.” Its one of many agencies you can support with your Combined Fund Drive donations.


New HUB meeting spaces open for reservations

Its still very much a construction site, but reservations are now being accepted for the new HUB, scheduled to open next fall. Reservations can be made for events beginning Oct. 1, 2012, or thereafter.

More than 200 neighbors attend UW Neighborhood Ravenna Clinic opening

Harry the Husky mascot and the Husky Marching Band welcomed visitors Oct. 1 to the new UW Neighborhood Ravenna Clinic. The clinic is north of the main UW campus and open six days a week, with extended hours Mondays and Thursdays.

They come to campus each summer by the hundreds — students, teachers, athletes, cheerleaders, musicians, techies, accountants, businessmen, bankers, bicyclists and more. From days — sometimes hours — after spring quarter ends to just before the new school year starts, the UW plays host to all manner of summer groups, camps and conferences.
