Expertise: Recent and historical weather trends across Washington state, as well as climate impacts and adaptation
Guillaume Mauger is Washington’s State Climatologist and a research scientist at the UW Climate Impacts Group. Specializing in climate science, his research at the UW focuses on understanding and adapting to the impacts of climate change on flooding and stormwater in the Pacific Northwest. Mauger has worked on projects that assess hydrologic changes across a variety of Northwest watersheds, worked to apply climate information in habitat connectivity planning and collaborated with floodplain managers to integrate climate change into their work.
In addition to commenting on recent and historical weather trends across Washington state, Mauger can comment on Pacific Northwest climate change impacts and adaptation with a focus on climate change’s impacts on flooding (by rivers, along ocean coasts and from stormwater overflows) and on water supply.
