Expertise: Modeling of ocean circulation; chemistry and biological properties in the Salish Sea and coastal waters of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia
Parker MacCready works to advance fundamental understanding of estuaries and coastal physical oceanography. He works closely with biologists and chemists to link patterns of circulation, water currents and mixing to processes such as ocean acidification, low oxygen and harmful algal blooms. With his colleagues in the UW Coastal Modeling Group he creates realistic computer simulations of coasts and estuaries, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
