University of Washington President Michael Young is seeking individuals to serve on the President’s Minority Community Advisory Committee (MCAC). The MCAC is a 15-member committee whose mission is to advise and assist the University President concerning ways to attract and retain students, faculty, and staff of color and strengthen the connections of those individuals, and of the University itself, to their respective regional communities.
President Young is currently accepting applications and nominations for membership on the MCAC, with a deadline of January 15, 2014. To qualify for membership, individuals must have a strong interest and meaningful experience in working with issues important to communities of color and must demonstrate a commitment to the University of Washington. Current UW students and employees are not eligible for membership. MCAC members are appointed to three-year terms, which are staggered so that no more than one-third of the memberships expire in a given year.
The MCAC holds three regular meetings per academic year as well as special meetings as may be needed.
