Civil rights activist and former presidential candidate Rev. Jesse Jackson visited the University of Washington to speak about the importance of diversity in the technology industry during a special event at Kane Hall, Dec. 2.
In his lecture, Jackson also addressed the topics of civil rights and student engagement in the public policy process. A question-and-answer session with audience members followed. The event was presented by the UW Office of the Provost and the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity in collaboration with UW campus partners and the Seattle Urban League.
Jackson’s talk aired on UWTV and can also be viewed online.
Prior to the lecture, Jackson took time to do media interviews and attend a reception with UW leaders, faculty, staff, students and community members.
