As part of continuing engagement opportunities with the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D), past and present members of the Friends of the Educational Opportunity Program (FEOP) board gathered for a reunion with current and former OMA&D staff members at the UW Club on Thurs., Jan. 31.
The event was an opportunity for everyone associated with FEOP to come together to recognize its nearly 50-year commitment to advancing college access and success for underrepresented minority, first-generation and low-income students supported by OMA&D.
FEOP was established in 1971 and since then, has been comprised of a rotating board membership of dedicated alumni and community members. FEOP serves as the fundraising board and host for Celebration, OMA&D’s signature scholarship fundraiser, and joins OMA&D in selecting each year’s student scholarship recipients and the Charles E. Odegaard Award recipient.
The reunion featured welcome remarks from Rickey Hall, vice president for Minority Affairs & Diversity and university diversity officer, and Barbara Lord MacLean, current FEOP Board president. Former OMA&D vice presidents Sheila Edwards Lange and Myron Apilado also made special appearances.
